Hello again, Diabetes Alert Day.
Like clockwork every year, the American Diabetes Association marks its annual D-Alert Day on the fourth Tuesday of March. This is a one-day “wake-up call” designed to make people more aware of type 2 diabetes and offer them ways to assess their own potential to develop this condition. According to the authorities, the annual World Diabetes Day celebration on November 14 got started way back in 1991. But of course nobody heard much about it until that history-making UN resolution was signed, recognizing the urgency of diabetes and declaring World Diabetes Day an official United Nations Day, to be observed every year beginning in 2007. Diabetes Awareness Month comes to a close for another year today. I think we can all be proud that we did our very best to be heard. There were hundreds and thousands of blog posts, grassroots education campaigns, and local meet-ups.
We lit up the world!
We gave “Blue Fridays” a new meaning!
