Even though Ed Damiano isn’t living with diabetes, he occasionally wears a continuous glucose monitor and two Tandem t:slim pumps, and he constantly has his eye on all the newest D-devices.

Last week, I attended the 13th annual Children with Diabetes Friends for Life conference in Orlando (which also has added great new offerings for adults with type 1 in the last few years!). It was a wonderful event with almost 3,000 attendees, including parents, children, adults with diabetes and their significant others. No one denies the new t:slim insulin pump by Tandem looks really cool. It does.
But if you’re just getting your feet wet with insulin pumping, or prone to experiencing buyer’s remorse, then this Apple’esque pump may not be the best choice for you.

The long-awaited Apple’esque t:slim insulin pump from Tandem Diabetes Care is finally through FDA! This is the new full-featured pump that looks like a mini iPhone, with the first-ever color touch screen for insulin dosing. When it hits the market in the first half of 2012, it will also be the smallest insulin pump system available, “sized like a credit card and slim as a smart phone.”
