When exactly the Animas Vibe integrated insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor (CGM) hits the U.S. market is now up to the FDA.
Almost two years after the Animas Vibe hit the market in Europe, this Monday Johnson & Johnson submitted the pump to the U.S. regulatory agency. The company publicly announced the submission during their first quarter earnings call early this morning.

Almost 10 months after the Tandem Diabetes t:slim insulin pump hit the U.S. market, we finally have access to the pump management software that goes with it.
Tandem released their much-anticipated t:connect pump software last night (read: very early today) at the stroke of midnight on the East Coast. The cloud-based software, which works from either a PC or Mac (!), merges data from t:slim pumps and an assortment of seven different blood glucose meters…

Almost two years after getting regulatory OK to sell a new partially-disposable insulin pump in the U.S., a California company has changed the name of its product just before it hits the market in April.
The Asante Pearl will now be known as the Asante Snap, a pretty spot-on name since it’s not only short and snappy (pun intended!) but also accurately describes the design concept of this new “click-and-connect” insulin pump!

News broke the other day that Tandem Diabetes had gobbled up 51 patents belonging to Smiths Medical ASD, the folks who made the Deltec Cozmo pump that’s been off the market for almost four years now.
