In the world of diabetes devices, company execs, PR pros, sales reps and even doctors are often vague about when new products will hit the market and be available for us people with diabetes. If you imagine the Diabetes Community is climbing a mountain toward some figurative peak, then a takeaway from this year’s Roche Social Media might be this:

Today, the first up-close look at one of our 2010 DiabetesMine Design Challenge winners. Mauro Amoruso was honored with one of three Grand Prizes for his concept called Zero. It’s a combination insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor in a futuristic bracelet format:

Welcome to another “Where Are They Now?” update on a DiabetesMine Design Challenge entrant. This year, we received a paper entry on PicoSulin, a “revolutionary miniature insulin pump with direct Penfill Cartridge loading.”
I heard from the Geneva, Switzerland-based company last week that their website is now live, presenting in particular a new patch pump model (OmniPod competitor) they’re working on called the PicoPatch.
