Today Medtronic announces what is sure to be the first of a whole new generation of diabetes management software: its CareLink® Pro 3.0 Therapy Management Software — the first system to include algorithms capable of analyzing data from a patient’s insulin pump, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device, and blood glucose meter “to identify the most important patient information in one easy-to-use dashboard.”
Take note that this first 3.0 version is for clinicians only, but similar programs…

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, again. See this morning’s post with some wee silliness on that.
A quick newsflash on this lovely green day: this morning Medtronic has announced that it has received FDA approval for its new Paradigm Revel combination insulin pump/continuous glucose monitor, which they’re calling “the industry’s most advanced integrated system for diabetes management” (see product info here).
That may be an overstatement, considering the Revel does not include the automatic-suspend feature that…

Very big news in the diabetes world today, Folks: the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) has announced a partnership with insulin pump makers Animas Corp. (a Johnson & Johnson company) to actually start building the first ready-for-market artificial pancreas, i.e. “a fully automated system to dispense insulin … based on real-time changes in blood sugar levels.” DexCom will provide the continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology for the new system being developed.
