About a dozen diabetes bloggers and advocates will be gathering in Indianapolis early next week for the second annual Lilly Diabetes Summit.
The ‘Mine will be there participating — actually, I will, since the Lilly HQ is right up the road about 10 miles from my house, so no need for fancy travel arrangements.

In West Virginia, a 16-year-old with type 1 recruited hundreds of walkers and raised a record amount of money for his local JDRF chapter because he wanted to give back to a worthy cause.
In New York, another teenager helped raise a record amount of money for his local JDRF walk.

With self-publishing on the rise, it seems like everyone’s an author these days — and the diabetes community has its share of book-writers of all sorts.
Just skim through the listings over at Amazon. A quick search of “diabetes” brings up 22,000 “new and popular” titles, many of them involving food and diets, but also exercise, lifestyle and personal encounters with this illness. The term “type 1 diabetes” narrows the findings down to 952 books…
