It’s been 10 years since I participated in the second JDRF Children’s Congress in 2001 and I am absolutely amazed at how much JDRF’s biannual event has grown and changed. The Children’s Congress is an action-packed event in Washington, D.C., with legislative meetings and testimony, and it has grown also to feature some of the most famous names in diabetes advocacy, like Crystal Bowersox and Nick Jonas.

Crystal Bowersox: Her First Interview on Diabetes

I’m a huge Crystal Bowersox fan. Personally, I think this husky-voiced “busker” should have won this year’s American Idol competition, but it’s still freakin’ amazing to take 2nd place in this larger-than-life national competition.
