“Politics as usual” can make any average citizen either start nodding off, or running for the hills. Or depending on the issue, it sometimes makes the blood boil.

When Americans cast their ballots on or before Nov. 6, there’s a lot at stake for the diabetes community.

Although I was diagnosed at age 8, I spent most of my childhood pretty much oblivious to diabetes advocacy. My family raised money for the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, but that was it.
