As mentioned on Friday, Internet legend Craig Newmark was the featured speaker at last week’s Consumer Reports Health Blogging Summit in Yonkers, NY. Due to my busy summer, I somehow missed the excitement about TRUE2go, the world’s smallest blood glucose meter, which was granted FDA clearance in August. Was there excitement? From the looks of it, there should have been.

Diabetes and heart risk. My goodness do we hear a lot about that. And for good reason: people with diabetes are 2-4 times more likely to develop atherosclerosis (hardening of the blood vessels) and five times more likely to have a stroke than people without diabetes, according to the ADA.
