You wouldn’t believe the weird queries that bring people to diabetes websites. Or maybe you would. If you write a blog yourself, and have ever checked the search terms, I’m sure you’ve had a chuckle. Among my favorite recent search terms for landing here at the ‘Mine are:

and

Know Thy Illness (Symbol?), Get Involved

Speaking of World Diabetes Day, coming up November 14, I discovered this cool series of YouTube videos that the International Diabetes Federation has been pumping out to catch people’s attention. They’re short and evocative, all supporting the slogan “Understand Diabetes, Get Involved.”
For example, this bit on “how many people have diabetes worldwide?” Do you know the number? I didn’t offhand, either:

A Word from Christian Stokes, ‘One Lucky Teen’ with Diabetes

Several years ago, the American Diabetes Association decided to create a new position called the National Youth Advocate, which would give one lucky teen the chance to meet with Senators and Representatives and travel to summer camps to inspire young kids to get involved in diabetes research and awareness.
