Forget about Y2K – this year’s Leap Year date of Feb. 29, 2012, caused a hiccup in the Animas OneTouch Ping system that the company wants to alert customers to right away.
Apparently the problem only affects users who attempted to make changes to their time and/or date settings on that exact fateful day. Weird. Per Animas:

Wow, LifeScan’s OneTouch Verio IQ meter just barely hit market in the U.S., and we got word today that all meters across the country and across Canada are being “voluntarily removed and replaced” by the company, due to an error that can cause the meter to shut down when a user accesses the stored test results.

This week, J&J’s Animas is recalling a batch of 45,000 faulty insulin cartridges shipped between Nov. 30, 2010, and Jan. 4, 2011, that reportedly can leak insulin, resulting in the delivery of less insulin than intended. Yesterday we received a letter from Abbott Diabetes Care via certified mail. My husband even had to sign for it. What could it be? Did I win a prize? Owe them money? Were they offering me a job?
