I love the name of this awareness campaign. I mean, if anything ever deserved the moniker “24/7,” it’s this exasperating disease.
Actually, the full video campaign is called “The Betes: Now” and was put together for this summer’s Children with Diabetes Friends for Life conference by D-blogger Bennet Dunlap’s ueber-creative kids. Read the details in my earlier report.

Thirty-seven diabetes bloggers and online advocates convened here in Florida Tuesday, hosted by Roche Diabetes, for the second annual Social Media Summit — a rare in-person gathering where we can exchange ideas over advocacy efforts and discuss how we’d like to “change the world,” or at least diabetes care in the United States.

Cheryl Alkon, journalist and D-blogger at Managing the Sweetness Within (pictured right) has written the book that many a would-be-mom with diabetes has been waiting for: an ‘insider’s guide’ to having a baby with this illness. Titled Balancing Pregnancy with Pre-existing Diabetes, it covers the whole pregnancy experience, from the months before you begin trying for a baby, through conception, all three trimesters, labor and postpartum.
