A few weeks ago, as part of the Roche Diabetes Social Media Summit, we had the pleasure of meeting and hearing from Jean-Claude Mbanya, the President of the International Diabetes Federation. Jean-Claude gave an impassioned speech at dinner about the plight of underprivileged children in developing countries, many of whom die because of lack of access to insulin. One of the many struggles of living with a chronic illness is balancing the obligations of the disease with the requirements of employment. Many PWDs walk a fine line between managing their diabetes properly and fulfilling their work obligations. Whether you were diagnosed at age 4 or 14, dealing with diabetes when you hit college is a struggle for anyone. From late-night pizza parties, to erratic school schedules to the inevitable encounters with alcohol, diabetes in college is nothing if not chaotic.
