Well, here we are — World Diabetes Day 2012!
Today, we mark the anniversary of the day the co-creator of insulin, Dr. Frederick Banting, was born back in 1891. While World Diabetes Day has been around for more than two decades, founded by the International Diabetes Federation, it really started getting noticed in 2007, when the United Nations issued a resolution and made it an official day of observance.

OK, I’ll admit it: I hate going to the dentist.
Having someone poke around my mouth with a sharp metal object is not my idea of a good time. But unfortunately, as a PWD, it’s not only a good idea, it’s pretty critical. Diabetes Awareness Month comes to a close for another year today. I think we can all be proud that we did our very best to be heard. There were hundreds and thousands of blog posts, grassroots education campaigns, and local meet-ups.
We lit up the world!
We gave “Blue Fridays” a new meaning!
