Today, Nov. 9, is annual Diabetes Blog Day, thanks to community member Gina Capone, who founded this effort six years ago. It’s a day for us D-Bloggers to rally, and try to combine our collective voices to rustle up some attention from the outside world. A perfect effort for National Diabetes Awareness Month, of course!

In memory of those who have lost their battle with diabetes…
For a long a time, many of us in the Diabetes Community have been wishing there were a place to honor Loved Ones and Friends who’ve been taken away by this disease. I personally have been toying with the idea for several years, but somehow never got around to making it happen.

Michelle Page Alswager is a long-time diabetes advocate, whose mission has taken on new meaning since the sudden and tragic passing of her son, Jesse, in February of this year at only 13. Michelle is a former Executive Director for the Western Wisconsin chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, but continues to volunteer and participate in their Ride to Cure Diabetes, as well as working with the group Triabetes, a triathlon club for PWDs. …
