Those of us in the U.S. sometimes feel as though our Diabetes Community friends across the pond get all the coolest gadgets and medications before we do Stateside.

Sixteen-thousand doctors, scientists, and other healthcare providers. Hundreds of Pharma industry folks and food and diabetes supply vendors manning 171 booths in a cavernous exhibit hall. Over 2,500 research reports, plus over 2,000 more studies presented on mini-billboards known as research posters. More than 150 live sessions where experts present nearly 378 reports on every imaginable aspect of diabetes in the human body.

I have lots of news from the the huge expo floor of this year’s American Diabetes Association annual conference this week. To start off, one of the most impressive new devices I saw was indeed the new Jewel Pump from Debiotech out of Lausanne, Switzerland. My friend and colleague Dr. Rich Jackson of the Joslin Diabetes Center even went so far as to call it “best in show.”
