Today Medtronic announces what is sure to be the first of a whole new generation of diabetes management software: its CareLink® Pro 3.0 Therapy Management Software — the first system to include algorithms capable of analyzing data from a patient’s insulin pump, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device, and blood glucose meter “to identify the most important patient information in one easy-to-use dashboard.”
Take note that this first 3.0 version is for clinicians only, but similar programs…
Technology blogger and Type 1 diabetic Scott Hanselman works for Microsoft, and is quite famous in software developer circles. Very big news in the diabetes world today, Folks: the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) has announced a partnership with insulin pump makers Animas Corp. (a Johnson & Johnson company) to actually start building the first ready-for-market artificial pancreas, i.e. “a fully automated system to dispense insulin … based on real-time changes in blood sugar levels.” DexCom will provide the continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology for the new system being developed.
