When I featured the Joe Toucan Diabetes Project a few weeks ago, created by Hollywood producer and diabetes advocate Rocky Lang, I discovered that Rocky is not the only D-advocate in the LA-based Lang family. I’m a huge Crystal Bowersox fan. Personally, I think this husky-voiced “busker” should have won this year’s American Idol competition, but it’s still freakin’ amazing to take 2nd place in this larger-than-life national competition.

Like Jessica over at A Sweet Life, I have to say that Crystal Bowersox is hands-down my favorite American Idol contestant this year, and not just because she has diabetes. She’s just cool. She wears dreadlocks, and plays guitar. People call her “Mama Sox” because she has a one-year-old son. (They call her “Mama” and she’s only freakin’ 24 — geez!) Anyway, the girl can SING.
