How many insulins have you tried? If you’re like most people, you only switch to something new when a better generation comes out, such as when Regular upgraded to Humalog or when NPH upgraded to Lantus. I know Phil Southerland wouldn’t want me to call him a hero, but I can’t help myself. He has achieved what many thought impossible: creating a team of competitive cyclists with type 1 diabetes on track to become world-class. His efforts in recruiting athletes for Team Type 1, finding pharmaceutical sponsors, training like a maniac, and yet still finding time for motivational speaking around the country are beyond inspirational for people with diabetes everywhere. I read other PWD’s blogs, and they always seem like they have it so together. But then again, when fellow diabetics meet me in person, they seem to think I have it all figured out, too. Closer to the truth is probably that we’re all just taking it day by day. And man, do I stray sometimes:
