Teens and young adults with type 1 diabetes age 16 and older are finally getting some long-overdue recognition and resources from the JDRF – hooray! The organization this week announced a new “toolkit” aimed at supporting young adults newly diagnosed with type 1.

Many in the Diabetes Community are anxiously awaiting the release of the smaller and sleeker 2nd generation OmniPod, but already we know what a third generation won’t have:
A Pod that’s integrated with a Dexcom CGM sensor.

One of the 64-million-dollar questions in the diabetes world is why more of us don’t do a better job tracking our blood sugars.

Who’s tried Abbott’s new FreeStyle test strips with their fancy new “ZipWik” technology? These are the ones with the Butterfly on them, and the new tapered ends that poke out for much-improved blood uptake. I wrote about them when they were first introduced in this Test Strip News post.
Trouble is, now that they’re being shipped out to customers, nobody’s sure whether they’re compatible with the built-in meter on the OmniPod.
