I noticed a lot of chatter of late on diabetes forum sites about Symlin use. Some are still on the fence about trying this synthetic form of the human hormone Amylin, normally made by the beta cells, which helps level out post-meal glucose peaks. I’ve always been squeamish about trying alternate sites for my insulin pump. When Tiffany wrote about using her breasts back in 2005, I kind of shut down on the whole notion. Eeeeww! Just give me the belly and arms, thank you very much.
But now that I’m having issues with both skin irritation and lipodystrophy (overused infusion sites), I’m starting to eye the rest of my body for acceptable places to poke.

Talk about adding insult to injury! It was bad enough when my Type 1 diabetes ushered in a new era of being allergic to wheat. But now I’ve received some equally upsetting news: it seems I am also allergic to medical adhesives. Would you believe…?
