If you imagine the Diabetes Community is climbing a mountain toward some figurative peak, then a takeaway from this year’s Roche Social Media might be this:

As many of you may know, my husband/consulting partner and I were approached by Roche Diabetes’ Accu-Chek team a few years back with a challenging project request: how could we help them best “embrace” the burgeoning online diabetes patient community (what is now known lovingly as the DOC)? Our suggestion was hosting an in-person summit, to offer us cyber-advocates a rare chance to meet each other, as well as an unprecedented “peek behind the curtain”…

Forget about Y2K – this year’s Leap Year date of Feb. 29, 2012, caused a hiccup in the Animas OneTouch Ping system that the company wants to alert customers to right away.
Apparently the problem only affects users who attempted to make changes to their time and/or date settings on that exact fateful day. Weird. Per Animas:
On this date, the pump’s software did not recognize changes some patients attempted to make to their time…
