Having lived with type 1 for close to four decades now, Gina Gaudefroy has seen her share of news stories and articles about the latest research and technology relating to diabetes.

Back when I worked as a reporter in an office building in downtown Indianapolis, there’d be many days when I came in before the sun rose and left after it set. Getting outside to just walk around was a very low priority, and the only exercise I might get would be the few steps to the break room for some coffee.

When I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 19 years ago, the very first person I met was Stacey McGill of Stoneybrook, CT. If you are a woman diagnosed with diabetes between the late-80s and mid-90s, she was probably one of the first diabetics you met, too.
