One of classic rock artist Tom Petty’s great tunes is called “The Waiting,” and the chorus proclaims that “the waiting is the hardest part.”
Well, when it comes to diabetes doctors, Tom Petty got it wrong. That’s not the case. At least not for me.
No, the waiting to see my endo is actually the easy part. Scheduling and actually going to my appointments is the hardest part in my Diabetes World.

The fact is, a handful of manufacturers currently have a stronghold on our diabetes data. Their systems collect this vital health data for us, but are designed to withhold it so that we rely on their products exclusively to access it, share it, or analyze it.
More and more patients are finding this intolerable, and are fed up with waiting for the Pharma industry to embrace long-overdue open standards.

Don’t Google the InBar. If you do, you’ll find the Indiana State Bar Association, International Network for Bamboo and Rattan, an Israeli kibbutz in Galilee, or a night club in Croatia. You won’t find the D-friendly InBar snack. Not yet, at least.

When it comes to connecting diabetes devices and assuring that they can “talk to each other,” the small but mighty startup Glooko is making surprising progress. But it’s doing so with what is essentially a clever workaround — the first and only plug-in cable between popular glucose meter models and the iPhone/iPod, which debuted in November 2011.
