Salute to Luther Vandross, Divabetic

R&B superstar Luther Vandross died last night (Friday) at age 54. Cause of death “unreleased,” but the papers note that he never recovered from a massive stroke two years ago. I am shocked to note that most of the glowing eulogies mention the word “diabetes” only in passing, generally in the very last paragraph of the story! Only Fox News hints at poor diabetes management.

Book Reviews: “Fix-It-and-Forget-It” Cooking and Diabetes Travel Fun

So I got my first two review copies of diabetes books last week (the publicists have found me!). What fun!! The first is a new, diabetic version of the “Fix-It-and-Forget-It” Cookbook series by New York Times bestselling author Phyllis Pellman Good (published in cooperation with the ADA).

Set your Tivo, guys! It’s almost here. Have you heard? The first network TV series by, about, and for diabetics, called dLife TV premieres this Sunday on CNBC, 4:00 pm PT/ 7:00 pm ET. From what I’ve seen, it appears to be a cross between “The View” and a cable-like health show featuring segments on exercise and healthy cooking.
