Speaking of World Diabetes Day, coming up November 14, I discovered this cool series of YouTube videos that the International Diabetes Federation has been pumping out to catch people’s attention. They’re short and evocative, all supporting the slogan “Understand Diabetes, Get Involved.”

As you’ve probably read by now, Roche Diabetes was brave enough to host a ‘Social Media Summit‘ for the second year in a row last week, inviting a group of diabetes bloggers and online advocates to commune and interact. Thirty-seven diabetes bloggers and online advocates convened here in Florida Tuesday, hosted by Roche Diabetes, for the second annual Social Media Summit — a rare in-person gathering where we can exchange ideas over advocacy efforts and discuss how we’d like to “change the world,” or at least diabetes care in the United States.

I have lots of news from the the huge expo floor of this year’s American Diabetes Association annual conference this week. To start off, one of the most impressive new devices I saw was indeed the new Jewel Pump from Debiotech out of Lausanne, Switzerland. My friend and colleague Dr. Rich Jackson of the Joslin Diabetes Center even went so far as to call it “best in show.”
