The price of all the supplies and medications needed is so disheartening. What makes me even more upset is how difficult it still is for people to get health insurance in this country, or get their health insurance provider to cover things. The ACA has for sure made things easier, but it’s still not enough. I recently moved and am finding myself with a new Medicaid provider, and the amount of paperwork I’m finding myself having to fill out and in an extremely short period of time (I have exactly 3 days from when my new plan starts to get prior authorisation forms filled out and approved before I’m due for another round of life-saving drugs for another condition) is absolutely uncalled for.

I have been tremendously fortunate with insurance coverage. (At one point I even had one of those mythical ‘Cadillac plans’!)

However, the other burden that we all face are the choices of supplies versus X. In some cases it is basics like food, education, other meds. In my case, the dream of home ownership is out of reach. Without being unappreciative of my blessings, this is one thing I resent Diabetes for having taken away from me.
