As we close out the fifth year running of Diabetes Blog Week, many of us in the Diabetes Online Community may be feeling a little like this:
(Thanks to Jerry King, an accomplished worldwide cartoonist and regular contributor here at the ‘Mine.)
Of course, there was a lot to enjoy around the diabetes blogosphere this past week, and there still is one last prompt to tackle this fine Sunday:
As we wrap up another Diabetes Blog Week, let’s share a few of our Favorite Things from the week — anything from a particular fave #DBlogWeek post, a fantastic newly-found blog discovered, a picture someone included in a post, or a comment that brought on a smile.
One of the great joys about this whole effort is discovering new voices in this always-growing community, and a few that stood out to us are:
- Coffee and Insulin (awesome name, right?!) by Sarah
- Type One Trio created by a family with three kids with diabetes
- this Change the World post by a veteran type 1 at the Social D-Butterfly blog, who writes that it was her first experience participating in D-Blog Week and she was anxious about whether she could contribute anything worthwhile. Um, totally nailed it!
Aside from discovering newbies, we found it fun learning new D-terms of endearment like “underinsulinised” by Kim Henshaw in Australia, and chuckling over the really witty stuff like this diabetes-themed SNL Skit post by Kim Vlasnik at Texting My Pancreas.
So, in sum: thanks to everyone who’s taken part in D-Blog Week. And in particular, thanks a million once again to fellow type 1 blogger Karen Graffeo at BitterSweet Diabetes who’s been heading up this effort since the beginning. Can’t wait to catch more of the recaps of the hundreds of great D-blogs out there!
