Very interesting. One key issue not addressed … How will David/Diabetes Daily avoid any conflict of interest issues? Is DD on the slippery slope to becoming a marketing channel for this meter company? I welcome the idea of innovatiion, but have seen how difficult it can be to navigate insurance companies’ coverage with these niche/hi-tech meters. What does it mean for those folks who are not really interested in a new meter?

James, the conflict of interest issue is extremely important. Thank you for bringing that up. Diabetes Daily is a patient-first website and does not exist to support industry. In order for there to be any promotion of Dario on Diabetes Daily, it would be as advertisements and disclosed as such. We would be deeply uncomfortable with blurring the lines in any way.

As an ad supported website, we have a long history of separation of editorial from advertising. We have an ongoing and continuously refreshed interest in keeping those separate and not considering advertisers when creating editorial (either positively or negatively). Our editorial is currently all managed by Ginger Vieira who has little to no interactions with our advertisers, creating a natural firewall between advertising/editorial.

Thank you for sharing your feedback – we fully agree that your concerns are valid and imortant.

The issue of far greater import is “how do you get employers and the insurance companies who manage their health plans to pay for improving control”? Dario’s business model seems to be focused on selling an innovative product into the existing system, which does not pay for results. And no matter how innovative any meter company is, if their product cannot be shown to assist us in reducing A1c levels, it has no real value in either a clinical or economic sense.

I think this device will benefit the majority of diabetes patient, people who are living with this disease always find excuses to get their sugar monitored, until it reaches serious stage. This device will help individuals to monitor their glucose level at any place & any time they desired I think this will be by far the best glucose monitor device.
