    DMProducts .. How do I stay level.. Hmm.. or at least try to.. Actually a bit of impromptu long walks and a fan of levels gelpacks.. though I have had one pop on me in my front pocket… Grrrh.. Intentional “exercise” to bring down a stubborn high along with a correction does help at times..

    DMProducts. I love Level glucose gels! What a fantastic prize! I stay level with lots of moderation: no complete denial, but a lot of insulin and keeping apple cider handy for lows :-)

    DMProducts To keep my son’s levels even, we bring his scooter everywhere so that he can move around during breaks, and include other physical activity in our days whenever we can.

    DMProducts – Thanks for this post, Amy. I bought a whole bunch of the Glucose gels from GlucoBrands after you posted about them a while ago. Took them with me on two white-water rafting trips and was quite glad I did (double bagging helped, too!).

    DmProducts! I stay level with consistent checks on my blood sugar levels and correct amounts of insulin. I try not to over eat during the holidays but that never works. I also go on walks if I ate to much and always bring my level up gel pack or a juice box just in case.

    DMProducts… What is this level you speak of? Lately everything has been spiking my daughter’s BG super high. One thing we always try to do is pre-bolus. Usually it works, just not right now.

    I stay level during the holidays by staying active! And checking my sugar as often as possible.

    DMProducts, Great stuff to have in my shirt pockets for long hikes in the woods. Even have my co-workers ready to go to the truck, if I need a gel pack.

    DMProducts. The way I try to stay level is to NEVER have carbs in what I drink. I want to have plenty of room for as many decadent side dishes as possible.

    DMProducts – At the risk of sounding like a paid endorsement, I use LevelUp Glucose packs to bring me back up whenever I’m low. I buy this stuff by the case from CVS online. It’s quick and brings me up fast. I’d love to try their bars.

    How do I stay level? Ummmm, I don’t.
    I DO however try to make it a point to bring a “BG-friendly” food to all invited meals (celery w cream cheese, big salad, cheese plate, diet beverages, SF pudding/jello based-desserts …), its not perfect, but it helps.

    Otherwise, check and correct, check and correct, check and correct, check and correct and then repeat.

    Why glucose — and not another monosaccharide such as fructose — is so widely used in organisms is not clearly understood. One reason might be that glucose has a lower tendency, relative to other hexose sugars, to react non-specifically with the amino groups of proteins . This reaction ( glycation ) reduces or destroys the function of many enzymes . The low rate of glycation is due to glucose’s preference for the less reactive cyclic isomer . Nevertheless, many of the long-term complications of diabetes (e.g., blindness , renal failure , and peripheral neuropathy ) are probably due to the glycation of proteins or lipids.

    I don’t overeat! I know the number of calories; carbs, protein, and fat needed so try and stick with that as much as possible, I haven’ t found any food thats worth feeling lousy due to high blood sugars
