Here we are on our final Friday in the month of January, and we find ourselves wrapping up our Life with Diabetes (LWD video series that’s been a regular find here for the past four months.
In this week’s final snippet, we visit with a teenager with diabetes struggling to keep her weight down and manage her blood sugar levels, all the while making it through college courses and working a job too, and, you know… trying to have a life!
Episode 16: “Searching for That Happy Medium”
We hope you’ve enjoyed this series of real-life video clips.
With today marking our final LWD Friday, we reached out to filmmaker Jenny MacKenzie to find out what’s ahead for the source film she’s working on, SUGAR BABIES. She tells us:
“We are in the final stages of post production (musical score is being composed, animation, sound mix, final editing), and the film will premier this year. We have submitted a rough cut of the film to top film festivals (Tribeca, South By South West, and Full Frame) and will begin to shop SUGAR BABIES at broadcast venues in March. The Joslin Diabetes Center will be a non-profit endorser of the film, as we help to plan our education and outreach screenings across the country.”
Jenny also says she and her producer, Geralyn Dreyfous, met in October and November with a few executives from our own parent company Alliance Health Networks to talk about making more digital content available on the AHN sites (like DiabeticConnect) in 2013. Those would be in addition to the three other compelling family stories Jenny has been sharing there, including footage from top D-experts from across the country.
We hear a new SUGAR BABIES trailer is in the works, too, so look for that to premiere here at the ‘Mine coming soon!
