    Yes. I am a type 2 Diabetic. I eat sugary foods in moderation. The more you deny it the more you want it and will then pig out and totally muck up your glucose control. That being said, I don’t eat sugary foods every day, same for starchy foods.

    The point I’m trying to get across is moderation is the key. Denying everything is self-defeating in my opinion YMMV.

    I found a recipe in my mother-in-law’s things that I think she found when sugar was short during WW II and each cookie has about 1 gram of sugar. It is: one can of sweetened condensed milk and two squares of unsweetened chocolate. I melt the chocolate and the milk in the microwave for about 2 min but she used the double boiler. When the chocolate is blended into the milk add a cup of quick oatmeal and another cup of chopped nuts, a tsp of vanilla, 1/4 tsp of baking soda and 1/2 tsp salt. drop by teaspoons onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 for only 10 min no more. This is one treat I do not need to feel guilty about but too many will make me fat.
