DMProducts look really interesting. I live in a hot climate and have always wished for something that would let me keep an extra BG meter and strips in the car without having to worry about them getting overheated. Wonder if anyone is working on that.

DMProducts! Thanks for the info on the cooler. Might be handy for travel, but asking for a refrigerator has never been a problem. Even if I don’t win, really need to get the Frios. Especially living in the ATL!

I live in Oregon, and this Saturday is the Tour de Cure event.

Temperatures are supposed to be in the 70°s range – perfect for biking and insulin storage.

DMProducts would be useful if we were riding in a 90° day like we did a few years ago.

DMProducts–I just keep new insulin in the fridge and active vials in the cubbert. My 9 yr old has no interest in being at any insulin cooking temp herself so I don’t worry about her pump–if it’s 101 degrees out she’d come in!

DMProducts rock! I do a lot of fly fishing and camping and these products can take the worry out of keeping your Insulin, and other heat sensative meds at safe temps.

Hopefully the makers of the Climapak can come up a more affordable way of regulating the temperature for the insulin. Right now the Frio looks like the best option for keeping the insulin cold. Does Frio have anything to help keep the insulin warm in the colder climates?

I’ve used a Frio before. It works well. Sometimes it seems that the insulin I carry around in my insulin pump to degrade if I’m outside a lot on very hot days. DMProducts

DMProducts – It’s been such a hassle trying to properly cool my pen without accidentally freezing it or letting it get too hot that I have been known to just say “forget it” and either stay home or skip my injections. I’ve always wondered if the Frio worked.

DMProducts ftw! I’ve always wanted to get a Frio. The Kewl Climapak does look a little bulky, but still worth trying…anything to keep the insulin from boiling!! Thanks for the great post!

I do not have the ClimaPak yet ( on order ) but I have used the Frio cases before. If you live in a warm very humid climate like me you will find the process the Frio uses to keep cool ( evaporation ) is not very effective. While inside with air conditioning which lowers the humidity the Frio works fine. But outside it quickly assumes the outside temperature. So if you live in areas that are very warm and very humid you might want to keep using ice packs or consider the ClimaPak. Or try to figure out where to get replacement insulin like I had to do.

I ordered the Frio Insulin Pump case on my own and paid $29 for it. When I received it, it had no “illustrated” instructions about how to put the pump in the case. So I went to YouTube and saw a demo/review by a customer. So it would be clear/easy how to assemble it. After having seen the demo on YouTube, I decided it was not the best option for my Revel. The person who did the video said it could be a tight fit for someone who used their MM clip. I always use the belt clip. I immediately sent the pump case back via Priority mail on Thursday 8/2. Also sent them an e-mail. I got a call on Monday afternoon from someone named “Dan” who said he received the return and he needed my cc# to process the refund. He said for “security reasons” they don’t keep the cc #s.

I called Dan on Tuesday 8/7 at 11 am and gave him my Visa #. Security code and all. It is now Saturday 8/10 (four business days later) and the credit has not been posted to my account.

By Thursday I wasn’t sure why the credit did not go through – it was 48 hours. I sent two e-mails to Lisa (at “readycare.com) – actually a “reply” to her message to me about how I am missing out on such a “fabulous product that would simplify my life” and left Dan a message on his cell phone yesterday after no response for 72 hours or a response from “Lisa ___, RN”. from “Lisa” I asked Dan why it was taking so long and could he please just do the right thing & refund the $29. No response.

I only ordered it to begin with because I read on DMine that it was being “given away” and with all the intense summer heat, I thought it would be helpful to me. So sorry that a business that seems to be reputable and signs off their e-mails with “In Good Health” really doesn’t bother to respond to giving customers their $ back when they say they will.
