Mike, I’m playing with Cosm with allows you to publish data feeds. I’ll bet there’s a way to feed Fitbit data into it. I just started this today, want to see if there’s a way to auto-feed diabetes-related data.

Thanks for the report. I suppose the ultimate for us PWD’s is a closed loop that integrates a heart rate monitor to better avoid lows. That would be a lot of robot gear, though, with heart rate sensor, infusion site, CGM sensor site, and remote controller!

In several diabetes management studies that I’ve conducted we used pedometers to teach people about activity levels and how they have a person-specific correlation to blood sugar control. The technique that was most effective involved wearing a pedometer (often free from health plans or easily obtainable for $1 at your local Dollar discount store). Since we were coaching workers around cause and effect, we asked people to wear the pedometer on a typical work day then again on a typical weekend. This is probably the easiest way to get the point across and most anyone can do it this way. I love tech gadgets but then again I realize I’m in the minority and not typical. PS – I offered to speak with the people at Fitbit several times over the past few years to help them address the specific needs of pwd (as did others I’m guessing) and not once did they send me a reply. Now you see the result in their software implementation. Too bad.

I wrote an app that will pull in Fitbit Ultra and Fitbit Aria data into Cosm.

    Here are my feeds:

Let me know if you’d like to use the app!
