Indeed it’s fun to read and informative, esp. at 2 in the morning when i should be up in bed. btw, have i written before that going on my exercise bike – in front of the TV while watching the rifleman or PBS secrets of the dead – incredibly lowers my blood sugar. just 10 or 15 boring minutes on the bike has lowered it 40 points.

The above photo shows Lipoatrophy that developed while using Novorapid Insulin. It continued to develop after the area was no longer used for Insulin Pump sites. It took a good two years for the area to return to normal.

I have lipotherapy too! On both sides of my belly button, giving me a rather toned stomach!
How long does it take to return to normal do you think?

What a great article Will (how did I miss it?). I had this problem in the 60′s with my pork injections (all in my legs). I looked like quite the little athlete – then I started to do my arms – same thing – but eventually they’d fade away. Now I’m being haunted by this almost 40 years later – with today’s insulin for some reason BUT in areas that I do not inject into – totally off elsewhere – and sadly – in the wrong area (I’ve always wanted that sucked in model look of emancipation – puckering up my lips to the camera). I’ve tried to question my endo about why it’s not in areas I inject / pump in but at least it’s not in the areas I place these human dart board instruments. Just watch my luck now – after typing this out …. it starts in my injection sites. Oh – did say that I’m VERY insulin sensitive – so goes totally against what “lipoatrophy diabetes” is – so maybe I’m another abnormal type of diabetic .
