Very interesting Wil! My grandma was diagnosed with diabetes by going into a coma with a blood sugar, iirc, of over 700. Looking back, it was almost certainly type 2 but I’m not sure we called it type 2 back in the early 70s or totally understood the differences. I remember the family rushing to Michigan where she was expected to die and your post makes me curious about what kind of coma she had and how far along her diabetes was when it was found. She died of complications only 18 months later. There’s no way to guess but it does make me very grateful for the medical advances since then.
