Interesting perspective regarding the potential voting impact of people affected by diabetes and where fear of this disease should reside. I confess, I have been guilty of believing the worst about the companies who make money off my life with diabetes. (Especially since I am on a pump and trying to live a compliant lifestyle–it gets so expensive!!) However, I like to live my life without fear. I know there are going to be obstacles and trying times because of diabetes (I’ve had it 33 years) but I have faith that the strength I need to get through it is always available to me. That makes my life more peaceful. Unfortunately, because compliant PWD make living with diabetes look easy (to non-diabetics we are just living the healthy lifestyle that everyone should be doing) our story is not as captivating as the other issues making the daily news cycles.

If you want PWD to band together, make sure over the coming year that the politicians have to answer all the appropriate questions so we know where they really stand. Over the last election cycle, there was so much spin being thrown and outright failure to challenge candidates as to their platforms [Think Governor Walker in Wisconsin], that people were caught of guard when they saw what the newly elected officials actually did.
