    Thanks for describing the honeymoon period of LADA.

    I get my flu shot because I noticed that everytime I got sick, my insulin requirements increased. As if, while my immune system was fighting whatever, it decided to knock off a few more beta cells while they were at it.

    Dxed at 48, 7 years ago, I am using more insulin than I did (25 units/day via pump as opposed to 1unit each meal + 2 units Lantus) fivefold; however, I’m still sipping insulin compared to most long-term Type 1′s and my pancreas remains that erratic unpredictable employee, sometimes lazing in to work and shluffing off, other times working way too efficiently. On the other hand, I have yet to be hospitalized (knock on wood) for either DKY or a low; that horrid employee seems to protect me from the worst.
