If you’re a PWD I don’t think it’s possible to have a long-term relationship with someone unless they’ve got your back. My wife helps me with infusion sets in the small of my back, can tell if I’m low on a telephone call, and is supportive and loving without being (too) pushy. She’s the best…and yes I’m very biased. :-)

Breaking communication barriers is tough but it’s really worth it. Especially so when your partner is experiencing some illnesses. My husband is hypertensive and oftentimes it is so hard to talk about dieting or fasting with him. I am not yet there but I am trying my luck at communication.

If you read my post here a couple of days ago “Loving Yourself with Diabetes” you know my husband has my back. I love this post and how many people are happy with their partner’s care. Would be interesting too to hear from the type 3′s about their feelings and what we can do to help them since they feel a certain amount of powerlessness.
