Complications: preventing them is the motivation behind almost everything we do in managing our diabetes. Yet how much do we really know about how to live with them? After all, life doesn’t stop with a diabetes complication.

It’s widely accepted that the cause of diabetes is a mix of “nature and nurture,” i.e. both genetic and environmental factors. Genes have been identified that seem to predict the occurrence of diabetes, but genetics alone are not enough to show who will get diabetes and who won’t. There has been some crazy winter weather going on the last few weeks, what with a massive snow storm on the East Coast spanning from Boston to Atlanta and even some frigid, icy weather in Southern California. Hopefully everyone is staying safe and warm!
