It’s Day Two of National Diabetes Awareness Month and our community is buzzing. Many of you regular readers are involved in all sorts of grassroots campaigns to support, advocate and educate, to be sure. (I watched that Bret Michaels-as-a-daddy TV show, btw, and he’s kinda decent after all; did you know that his tour bus now sports lettering stating “Bret Michaels Wants to Stop Diabetes“?)
Anyway, I’m not pointing you all to that video. Rather, if you haven’t heard about it yet — and even if you do nothing else in the name of advocacy this month — at least take one minute and 49 seconds to view the Big Blue Test video:
Every view brings us closer to the $75,000 that Roche Diabetes Care has pledged to donate to the Life for a Child program, run by the International Diabetes Federation, and Insulin For Life. These two global, humanitarian organizations provide diabetes medication and supplies to children in the world’s poorest countries.
Speaking of poorest countries, allow me to remind you again about Team Type 1′s Strip-A-Thon campaign to gather donations for children with diabetes in Rwanda.
The goal of this month is to help the people with diabetes who need it most. Therefore, I am doing my best to stay on message.
