Riva: You are incredible, and such an inspiration to this diabetic who’s been doing journalism since high school and writing since being “that high off the ground.” Have had this journalism dream as long as I can remember, and while the ever-expanding D-Blogging and Advocacy role is taking me in new directions all the time (like Roche!), it hasn’t yet transformed into something where the two passions are completely intertwined. We’ll see whether that ever happens, but in the meantime, thanks for doing what you’re doing. I’ll continue as always to look forward to your stuff there!

Riva. You are a phenomenal writer. Keep up the good work. You are very inspiring writer. I’m in the diabetes industry also, and I never thought I would spend my time writing about diabetes either. But it is a rather rewarding industry to be in!

Congrats, Riva. The HuffPost sees a fantastic amount of traffic, and any vehicle that reaches such an audience can only be good for diabetes education.

Lyrehca you are right. The HuffPost does not pay it’s writers. And it would be wonderful to change that. But often compensation is other than monetary. It does give me, my work, my influential impact and my books visibility and affect I wouldn’t otherwise have. And I believe all that is its own reward right now, and a step to the next unknown place of influence. Of course those cherry tarts would also be nice compensation!

Funny, I’ve always heard the Huff Post paid writers terribly (as in, not at all) and therefore, have never followed it much. Why support a site that doesn’t compensate its writers fairly? I hope Riva is the exception to this, or is at least getting enough publicity for her books to make it worthwhile for her.
