I was going to wish you all “Happy” Memorial Day, but I don’t think that’s protocol.
Anyway, bloggers get the day off too — especially after all that Bat Mitzvah action. (It was wonderful! Such nachas!)
This seemed like a great day to re-visit this dLife success story of an Army Sergeant on active duty who was diagnosed with diabetes:
Being a soldier with diabetes ain’t easy, but it can be done.
Meanwhile, the authorities note: “If you have a strong desire to join the military and a history of diabetes, then document your whole medical and visit your local recruiter. There are alot of occupations in any military, not only on in front line service.”
For example, here’s another story about a guy with diabetes who insisted on finding a place for himself in this country’s armed forces.
Respect.

Great post, Amy. Totally perfect timing and an inspiration to all those growing up with Type 1 who might want to one day be a part of the military in some capacity.
Nice post, Amy. And mazal tov on your daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. I’m glad it went well. And even if it’s off topic, we want to hear all about it!
In Israel we have many type 1 soldiers in the army in all positions. (Unfortunately this is part of our life there, Army duty for us is like Insulin i.e. a must).
Any way we have also few jet fighters pilots in the army that are type 1, they do have to switch to a two pilots jets after diagnostics.
