Thanks for posting. It is so nice to hear about a family making it work with diabetes and no formal insurance. I ask myself, what happens to this girl's mom if she needs medical assistance? It seems this is a mother who s really sacrificing for her children. Hopefully it just means she does her best to stay healthy so she doesn't need to go to the doctor. As a type 1 diabetic, my goal is to only see the doctor for check ups and I find that goal inspires me to try real hard to take care of myself. Bravo to his woman and her daughters. I hope to hear more about them one day!

As someone that was diagnosed at age 10, I'm always amazed by people that were diagnosed as toddlers.

I switched to the Omnipod because of sports. Taking insulin by injections was not nearly flexible enough for me. When I took my long-acting insulin, it was impossible to know with certainty when or how long I would exercise. Being able to adjust insulin dosage on the fly is crucial. I may not know for sure whether I'm going to exercise right up until the moment I start, so the pump is a life-saver. I have reduced the amount of carbohydrates I need when cycling by more than half by being able to adjust my basal rate so easily.
