I am one of those whose BS rises on rides. I start the morning with 105, I eat rice pancakes and 1 TBS almond butter, I take my normal insulin shot. My first hour is great, BS are around 150, when they start to drop I take in Jelly Belly sports Beans since I can control the sugar one by one. Yesterday BS started to drop and I took 4 sports beans (~ 2 carbs each) l, BS in the 2nd hour rises to over 300. It stays there pretty much until after I am done with the ride. I would really like to be able to keep my sugars under 200 during any ride since I feel much stronger. It appears that as the ride level increases (6% - 15% grade climb) so does my BS. Any suggestions... My current rides are usually 4 hours in length on the weekends and I commute 21miles 2 - 3x a week. HELP!
