I’ve been up to my ears in sorting and cataloging the abundant entries we received for this year’s DiabetesMine Design Challenge, which closed for submissions last Friday. So much so that I haven’t had time to think about — or write about — much else. A quick numerical overview of the outpouring of creativity we’ve seen:
152 = total number of contest submissions received this year, once all the ‘outliers’ were properly located (some weren’t originally added to the proper group on Scribd)
47 = number of video entries
105 = number of distinct paper entries (some people loaded multiple pages as separate docs)
19 = number of concepts integrating diabetes care with the iPhone in some way
16 = number of concepts for new non-invasive glucose monitoring technologies
8 = number of concepts integrating gaming or toys into D-education
4 = number of entries focusing on programs for patient motivation/support
3.5 = number of hours I’ve spent not in my office since the contest closed
2 = number of videos that made me chuckle out loud (in a good way — it’s all about the presentation).
Have a look at those two:
(NOTE – being featured here has nothing to do with these applicants’ chances of winning)
And now enough about that until May 18, when the full judges’ panel will have made its determinations, and the winners will be announced. Applicants, please note: I’m just as nervous as you are, believe me.
