The folks at Pump Wear Inc., the company that claims to have started the trend of cool, colorful insulin pump accessories and mini-packs for kids, have created a new fundraising initiative in which they’re asking for people affected by diabetes to create a visual representation of how long they have had diabetes by using pocket change: the Wall of Change.
All you have to do is form the number of years that you or your loved one has had diabetes using loose change, snap a photo and email it to Julie DeFruscio, co-founder of Pump Wear Inc. here. Then send in the money to benefit JDRF by mailing the change to the JDRF chapter in East Greenbush, NY. You can get all the mailing information and details about the fundraiser on the Wall of Change website, linked above.
This is the sort of thing that may only make a tiny dent financially in East Greenbush, but could be really powerful if local JDRF chapters around the country got on board.
So do you have some loose change lying around your car, in your purse or under your sofa cushions? Surely you do! How about putting it to good use? Especially in this down economy, when money is all the more precious, this is a great opportunity to make a statement while supporting the cause, whether you use pennies, dimes, quarters or a mix of everything.
As the staff at Pump Wear Inc. says, “It’s time for a change! And we can get there one dime at a time!”
