It’s finally here — the compilation of all the wonderful nuggets of wisdom from YOU, the diabetes community, that you shared with us here during the recent Holiday Survival Sweepstakes event.
In case you missed that whole to-do, we asked PWDs across the community to share some of their best tips about surviving the holiday season with diabetes: on exercise, stress, managing the “diabetes police,” travel, and of course, food.
Rather than lose all the wonderful words of wisdom accumulated over the course of the 5-week contest, we’ve collected them into an eBook that we hope can be used as a reference guide throughout the whole year: Nuggets of Wisdom from the Diabetes Community. The booklet can easily be download in PDF format by clicking on the image below, or by clicking here: diabetesmine-nuggets-ebook_final1.
An enormous SPECIAL THANKS to Gina Capone, who is the new force behind the Diabetes OC site, and to Allison Blass for making the eBook happen!
We hope you’ll enjoy the practical wisdom and many colorful images shared here by so many kindred spirits. Any and all feedback on the eBook is welcome, of course.
[Editor’s note: it’s not really on a stick (yet) — unless you put it on your fave USB device yourself; I just really liked the way that sounded]

Hi Amy,
I ran across your site while searching for diabetes information on Google. You have some great content and a well-designed site.
I am writing to you because I am the publisher of an acai berry information site and I have been doing a lot of further research on the acai berry and have found this fruit to be ideal for diabetics. I am sure you have heard all about acai berry, unfortunately the acai is being promoted in the wrong ways and pushed towards people looking for weight loss. Whilst the acai does assist people in losing weight, its benefits are much more useful in other fields such as diabetes.
The strongest attributes of the acai is the exceptionally high antioxidant levels and the low GI rating. There are many more attributes but these two are the strongest and they certainly make this fruit suitable for diabetics. Of course it is suitable for anyone interested in improving their health but I would say it is perfect for diabetics – and unfortunately this has not been stressed enough.
So I was writing to offer you an article for your site on the benefits of the acai berry and it’s suitability for diabetics. The article would be professionally written, tailored for your site, it will not be a salesletter, but rather an informative piece. I think your readers will enjoy it and it will no doubt spark some healthy discussion.
All I ask for is a link back to my site in the author section. I can send you a sample article if you would like.
Let me know and I will organise an article for you
Best Regards,
Joel Carr
