This morning Novo Nordisk announced that the FDA has scheduled an advisory committee meeting for its new Liraglutide once-daily GLP-1 drug, currently awaiting FDA approval. Believe it or not, this is huge news — with the potential to make or break a multi-billion-dollar diabetes drug category and set the tone for FDA safety proceedings in years to come.

A little eye candy for your Friday: Brazilian Supermodel Izabel Goulart.
No, she doesn’t have diabetes. But she has a sibling who does. Her 7-year old brother was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes five years ago.

So even with unpacking and back-to-school mayhem, I’m proud to say I made it through Phase I (the first two weeks) of the South Beach Diet — with just a little wandering here and there.
