Before the extended-release version was available as a generic, it might have been found under the brand name "Glucophage XR", or the original brand-name metformin, "Glucophage". Other information would need to be found through a site such as drugs.com (which supplies pharmacy-insert information), or through a more specialized database. Blog, Bennet's Diabetes Blog, etc. (not in any particular order)... I will spend more time on a manufacturer's site when I have questions about their products or am trying to research a product.
